The former U.S. Secret Service agent Dan Bongino became the new Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) through a formal oath on March 17, 2025. During the event at FBI headquarters the swearing-in took place when Director Kash Patel performed the oath of office on Bongino.
Background and Career
From 1995 until 1999 Bongino committed his service to the New York City Police Department (NYPD) followed by his time as a U.S. Secret Service agent from 1999 to 2011. During a 12-year period between 1999 and 2011 Bongino dedicated his service to the Secret Service where he protected both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The Secret Service career of Dan Bongino ended when he shifted his focus to political commentary with his radio program and numerous books about political subjects along with national security issues.
